Been looking for a 201 for years; found this one at a local estate sale
These machines in Domestic use will be in good running order in 2120 too!
The 201 is popular for all good reasons, this was the period of some of the finest machining capabilities at Singer and around the world.
The 201 is more Industrial like that any thing else they made, except for the potted motor.
The potted motor is the drawback to all singers in that it is the minimum power possible motor, that being said you will be fine for anything other than hard thick leather.
Shown are the serious gear set that makes the 201 the amazing and quiet machine that it is.
The system is a "Rotary Hook" instead of the more common and less smooth "Oscillating Hook"
